1960-1961 American Credo Series



George Washington "American Credo": 4 Cent Dark Violet Blue and Carmine. He emphasizing the ideals upon which America was founded the quote from Washington's Farewell Address states,"Observe good faith and Justice toward all nations".

Benjamin Franklin "American Credo": 4 Cent Olive Bister and Green. The second stamp in this series reflects Franklin's statement "Fear to do ill and you need fear Nought else".

Thomas Jefferson "American Credo": 4 Cent Gray and Vermillion. The third of this series features Thomas Jefferson's statement, "I have sworn...Hostility against every form of TYRANNY over the mind of man".

Abraham Lincoln "American Credo": 4 Cent Magenta and Green. Taken from a letter Lincoln wrote, the fifth stamp of this series quotes "Those who Deny freedom to others Deserve it not for Themselves".

Patrick Henry "American Credo": 4 Cent Green and Brown. The last in the series "American Credo" reflects Patrick Henry's famous statement made before the Virginia Provincial Convention in St. John's Episcopal Church "Give me LIBERTY or give me DEATH"
